Moving Forward

Hello soldiers, officers, and future recruits. My name is Specialist Jankowski and I'm enlisted in the US Army for 5 years. I have set up this blog in order to help educate and inform future prospects for those interested in fighting for their future and earning a great deal more. I'm not a professional recruiter. I work for a promotional program through the Army Reserves to help educate and walk recruits through the process of recruiting for the Army. I don't just sign you up, I stay with you through the first years if not longer you enlist in the Army. If it's the Reserves, Guard, or Active Duty you want I can help you get there.

In November of 2001 I decided to join the ranks and signed up to be a Patriot Missile Operator and Maintainer (14T). I was sent off to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for 9 weeks of rigorous Basic Training where I had the time of my life and met many lifelong friends. From day one we worked together as a TEAM to help each other get through what most of us thought would be impossible. Well, it was far from impossible! As a matter of fact it was fun. We got to shoot our rifles for a week at a time, go out into the field for days and train in combat operations, have simulated war games, and learn how to survive out in a combat zone. The training in Basic is irreplacable and cannot be found in any other program in the entire world. It is the best you will ever get and is what separates you from anyone who hasn't experienced it. The pride of accomplishing your goal of graduating is an unforgettable feeling.

After Basic I went to my job school where most of my friends from Basic came with me. We had a blast! It was very structured and regimented but it was well worth it. We lived in barracks, were able to hang out on the weekends and go places, workout at the weight room basically whenever we wanted to, and we ate all the time. It doesn't get any better and the best part was that we got paid the entire time...TAX FREE.

The best part of my career was when the Battery I was assigned to got our deployment orders to go overseas for Operation Iraqi Freedom. The year and a half of training we did had finally paid off and we were going to go and be a part of a real world mission. Talk about intensity and excitement. We spent 2 weeks preparing our gear and uploading vehicles onto trains and then airplanes. No where else in the world will you load equipment onto a C130 and head overseas on orders to eliminate an enemy of the United States.

If I could describe my experience in the Army thus far the only word comes to mind is Awesome! I did 3 years active duty and 2 Reserves and plan on making it a lifelong career. The people I've met and the places I've been are great. I'm headed toward earning my commission as an officer and have been given a great assignment state side.

The benefits are great. I make over $1100 a month just to go to school. I don't pay a dime in education except for books. When I drill my one weekend a month, they pay for my food and pay me regular army pay. I can learn any language in the world I want to for free. The best part is, I can get any job in the Army I want and go active duty any time I want if I choose to.

If you think that some of these experiences and perks sound interesting to you I encouarge you to explore this blog a little further. There are plenty more and for each it is different. I will be updating every week with more information on recruiting and what's in the news. I also encourage you to post questions and thoughts you may have if you are considering signing up for active, reserve, or guard. I designed this blog to help future soldiers to enlist but also to educate you before signing away. This is my introduction and first post. The best is yet to come.

Sincerely,

Spc Jankowski
